Lord Norman Foster’s radical idea was to pull down all extensions to the legendary Dolder Grand and replace them with new wings. These new wings – the spa wing and the golf wing – now nestle against the completely refurbished main building, linking the past with the future. In the spa area, Sylvia Sepielli picks up on this symbiosis between tradition and modernity; her theme here is “classic traditions with a techno beat”. Guests are greeted by “steampots”, newly developed columns of steam in the entrance areas of the ladies’ and gentlemen’s spas. At the heart of these spa areas, each of which is 100m² in size, guests can then enjoy a wonderfully relaxing footbath on river pebbles in the warm flowing water of the Japanese Kotatsu.
